JOB SUMMARY: The Nursing Assistant/Unit Clerk in the Med Surg/Telemetry Department is an unlicensed assistive person who assists with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-critical patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Also, assists in planning, implementing and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing station by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintains the physical environment of the area. FULL TIME, NIGHTS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. Successful completion of the unit clerk course given at facility.
3. Attain and maintain BLS certification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Answers and communicates central call system promptly.
2. Assists with orientation of new personnel.
3. Demonstrates appropriate responses to codes.
4. Assists in the control of unit budget.
5. Transcribes written forms and/or utilizes computer.
6. Maintains cost-effective use of supplies.
7. Maintain nursing station as to cleanliness and noise level.
8. Coordinates admission, discharge and transfer of patients on unit.
9. Maintain regular attendance
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
