QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 1. Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapist care program.
  2. Holds current and valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the Texas Medical Board.
  3. Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a RRT or CRT (RRT is preferred).
  4. BLS/CPR required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  5. ACLS and PALS required or must be obtained within 180 days of hire.
  6. Knowledge of care for patients of all age groups.
  7. General knowledge of computer equipment.
  8. Ability to operate respiratory equipment according to hospital policy and manufacturer specifications.
  9. Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  10. Works well under stressful conditions maintains open communication.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Quality care is the core function of all we do.

    The essential functions include but are not limited to the following. Performs Respiratory Therapy procedures according to the protocols set forth in the policies and procedures of Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Implements patient's plan of care by performing and documenting all Respiratory interventions. Implements patient care plan by performing and documenting all respiratory interventions. Provides patient and family education as it pertains to care plan interventions. Reports all critical observations and changes in condition to the Physician and or the RN. Responds promptly to all code situations. Works safely to prevent injury to staff and patients by applying proper body mechanics. Fosters positive intrapersonal relations with all staff, patients, and patient families through verbal communication. Maintains high level code of conduct and professionalism at all times. Be willing to teach and learn in all situations. Performs other duties to maintain and improve department function as needed.
