JOB SUMMARY: To maintain the hospital and related entities general ledger(s), prepare monthly financial statements, facilitate external reporting, and provide financial analysis of hospital operations. Assist the Controller with all the accounting functions in compliance with general accepted accounting principles.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from 4-year accredited university is required.
2. Master’s Degree in accounting and/or successful completion of CPA exam a plus, but not required.
3. At least seven years of related general accounting and financial reporting experience required.
4. Hospital / healthcare experience a strong plus but not required.
5. Strong experience analyzing financial variances for detailed causation.
6. Experience performing account reconciliations.
7. Must be computer literate. Ability to learn hospital accounting and data based systems.
8. Strong Excel experience including utilization of Pivot Tables, V-lookup, graphing.
9. Assist in monthly and annual financial close processes.
10. Assists with external reporting projects for the hospital and related entities.
11. Facilitates audits for various corporate and government agencies.
12. Learn and become the backup for Accounts Payable and Payroll team members.
13. Ability to work autonomously but also as a strong team member.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates the administration/maintenance of all entity general ledgers, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts to ensure accurate reporting, and reporting from the financial and statistical ledgers.
2. Maintains the General Ledger and Fixed Asset modules.
3. Facilitates in external reporting projects for the hospital and related entities, such as the WV Healthcare Authority annual rate application and uniform financial report, Medicare/Medicaid cost reports, etc.
4. Coordinates audits with external groups. Ensures necessary resources and documents are provided.
5. Assists accounting staff in the monthly close and annual audit process as needed.
6. Prepares monthly/quarterly sales and use tax, healthcare broad-based tax, and acute care tax returns.
7. Prepares monthly financial statements and other reports as requested.
8. Performs back-up payroll and accounts payable duties as needed.
9. Maintains regular attendance.
10. All other duties as assigned or required.
